Recognition of studies

All education and programmes in the higher education institutions of Oulu are based on a joint European credit transfer system (ECTS) which facilitates international transparency and recognition of degrees at an international level. The education in the higher education institutions is monitored through various quality assurance systems in order to enhance quality and improve international comparability. The institutions and degrees are recognised by the Finnish Ministry of Education.

Both the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences issue a Diploma Supplement, a document jointly designed by the EU, the Council of Europe and UNESCO. The Diploma Supplement provides information about the studies completed, the status of the degree and the qualification provided by the degree for further studies and for jobs.
